What an incredible time this past Saturday (Oct 14th)! Over 20 Chaplains gathered together for the purpose of getting to know one another, to learn, to fellowship, to pray, and to share victories, failures, and vision. The Midwest Chaplain Police Summit was fantastic!
Vaughn Baker, President of Strategos International spoke on Active Threat Preparedness and Response because of the increase in violence not only in society, but also within the Church. Since 1999, church violence has increased over 2300%.
Wendy Viers and Staci Brakhage from C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) shared their mission and vision of assisting those, who like themselves, are survivors of officers who died in the line of duty.
We shared, we prayed together, we began a great network of new friends, brothers, sisters, and co-servants! What an honor to be running with these men and women who are serving their communities as a Chaplain!
Where do we go from here? I desire to see the Midwest Chaplain Association holding summits in the Dakotas, in Nebraska and Iowa, in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, and Kansas! I would like to see a network of Chaplains so tightly night that any Chaplain could respond anywhere in the Midwest to help a brother or sister out during a time of crisis because relationship already exists.
I hope you'll join us and be a part of that vision.
